Earlier in the week, we got a wonderful surprise when some boater pals of ours, Anne & Steve, sailed in on their catamaran, Fine Line. We met them 7 years ago in the Bahamas when we were just starting out on our sailing adventure. We knew we'd be good friends when we had a potluck and they brought popcorn. While we ended up on St. Kitts eventually, they kept sailing around the Eastern Caribbean, past Venezuela, and up the Western Caribbean. They've been cruising for 7 years
and are ready for a little land action. Their boat is anchored a ways out, but every time they dinghy in, they're only 4 blocks from us. Wanting to ease things for everyone as they tour or run errands, I've given my moped to the family (it's easier to park a moped than an SUV), and Michael's given his to the Fine Line cause (I drop him off at work in the a.m.). We'll enjoy their time here until the weather finally allows them to continue north.

The next day we chatted over coffee & tea as their laundry got washed and folded up the street. During that excursion, I found out that even though I had asked the local bookstore to carry my book a few months ago and was turned down at the time, they changed their minds and have not only been buying A Sail of Two Idiots, but have been selling out of it. Well thank you, Key West Island Books. I appreciate the support.
So what else? The younger part of the group has been to Sloppy Joe's to watch a band and were there til past midnight one night. Yeah, we were snoring by then. There has been pizza, gelato, and guacamole, and much floating in the pool (not necessarily by me). One night LaTeDa was having a big shabang that could be heard at the rental. We jammed to the music on the porch and then snuck over to see who won the drag queen contest before heading home. Every Wednesday, Finnegan's Wake has 1/2 price vegetarian dishes and we've been wanting to try it out for a while. Since it was so close to the dinghy dock and a quick drive from the rental house, we decided to go for it and merge (most) everyone together. Most of the meals seemed to pass the hunger test (some non-vegetarian). I got a bean burger and thought it could use more flavor but was a big fan of the pretzel bun.
The boaters headed back to their boats, the family went off to play bocce ball by the beach, and Michael & I headed back to our own house, got in our jammies, and watched the season finale of Modern Family. Life is full.
Each day brings something new, so who knows what's to come.

Among other things, I'm a blogger. My last one was
