I Love A Parade...

Hallelujah!
First of all - can I get a Hallelujah?! The humidity broke on Tuesday as promised, and we're no longer living in a sauna. The sun is pretty hot if you're out in it, but we haven't had to run the a/c, which we're quite happy about. Last night was a good night for a parade, the "World's Longest Parade," to be exact. The idea of the parade was for everyone along the street to just jump in, and while we didn't see much of that, there were still quite a few participants. Since it was dusk, I'm back to the world of blurry photos, but I'll post a few anyway. Note that MileZero was smart enough to take some photos at the start when it was lighter out and no one was moving (plus he has a fancy camera).

First it was time for the police to close down the street. I thought that this was funny - do you suppose they don't have cops where they live?

First up were folks on bouncy shoes - from Cheeky Fitness. They specialize in pole dancing, but I'm guessing that would have been difficult to emulate while walking down the street.

Then these 4 people walked by, trailed by this poor man pulling the cooler.

Schooner Wharf & The Mile Marker 24 band had quite a contingent with sword fights,
a big boat float, and everything. The good photo is from the bar's Facebook page from last year.

A few nice cars went by. In the midst of the muscle cars and Rolls Royce's was a tiny Smart car. The golf carts were a nice touch too.

There were a couple of "boats."

Of course, beads were thrown. This woman came up and asked me if I would trade my green beads for her pink ones. No problem!

There was certainly a mishmash of people in this thing.

BIG truck - little Michael.

The pièce de résistance was the huge marching band. They had majorettes, pom poms, flag wavers, the actual band... Pretty cool. They looked like they were having lots of fun and were great.

The parade was supposed to end at the Schooner Wharf, so we headed over there just to see what was happening - a rare week night outing.

While some pirates still seemed to have some energy,

this one didn't look too good.

Michael had been ribbing me about getting more beads, like he usually does. But while he was off taking a whizz, I got these.
I swear I'm wearing shorts.
So, of course, I spent the rest of the night reminding him that my balls were bigger than his. I let him borrow them for a bit, but they didn't make him look much manlier.

Not quite ready to call it a night, we decided to head for a pier and take in the full moon.

Friday means the Naval Parade and Great Battle, but I haven't figured out where we're supposed to watch it yet - one thing says Sunset Pier, the other says Key West Harbor. Saturday is bed racing - I have to admit, we're looking forward to watching that.
