I've been feeling a little bleh lately. This made me laugh though.
I just read that Key West has the most bars per capita than anywhere else in the U.S. While I don't consider going to bars the way to spend every day/evening I have available, I do have to give a shout out to most of the establishments here. There are always charity events going on. One local woman was in a moped accident that required her to be air ambulanced off the island and she now owes $35,000 just for that alone. Another couple just lost their house and 2 pets in a house fire, so money is being taken up for them.
After working a lot of hours for the past couple of weeks, Michael got off early on Friday. so we decided get a snack at Louie's Backyard and enjoy some sun. I had to laugh at these people in bathing suits and in the water, compared to me...
I originally had on just the t-shirt dress but was cold, so threw on a pair of sweatpants underneath. Yep, definitely a different metabolism than these people. After a couple of hours, we decided to wander around Duval St. for a bit. Ok, now what? It was 4pm.
We decided to see what the Tropic Cinema had playing (different from the boring other one we tried a couple of weeks ago).
The movie coming up at 4:15 was The Sessions. We had no idea what any of the movies were about (they play mostly indie-type films), so decided to just go in and check it out. First up - the theater. After paying $10.50 per ticket (ouch!), we wandered into a pretty hip joint (a relatively new establishment, opened in 1999). What's different about this theater than most is that you can get beer or wine with your popcorn. Popcorn doused with real butter (must bring bib and wet wipes next time). I'm a big fan of Diet Coke and popcorn, but had to get wine this time just to say I did it.
Inside the theater - Hallelujah!! - it wasn't over air conditioned. I've never, ever been in a theater that was just the right temperature. It was also pretty empty. Kind of like the St. Kitts' cinema during the day. Excellent.
We were told by the really nice women in concessions that we can get deals on tickets in the future if we get a membership. It just might be worth it (we won't be paying $10.50 again). The movie itself was rather shocking when you have no idea what it's about. Kudos to the two main actors, particularly Helen Hunt. Wow, talk about mature subject matter. But this is when I'm reminded why Michael & I have been together for so long. We were both intrigued. I'm sure some macho guys would have declared this a "chick flick" and been embarrassed to say they were there, but luckily Michael is secure enough in his manhood that he can appreciate art and watch football - not necessarily at the same time (and I'm usually the one avoiding chick flicks). It was a great movie. Very thought-provoking. We were then home and in our jammies by 8pm...
I've been really tired lately not sleeping all that well. Michael took this picture so show me what just might be the problem. So much for a king-sized bed.
Does that picture make my ass look big?
Anyway, Thanksgiving is coming up and we're really looking forward to ferrying up to visit some friends. We've been on a 4x2-mile island for 3 months...Christmas is bringing various fun things to do like the Lighted Boat Parade and various things listed under the Key West "Bight" Before Christmas moniker. I'm looking forward to it.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Among other things, I'm a blogger. My last one was
