A New Month

Things are slowly starting to coming together. Insurance is covering all the things that need to be fixed thanks to the moped "incident." We're done buying stuff for the house (we gave up on patio furniture) and just need shoes at this point. The sun has come out too. I was in disbelief about the infernal rain. This pot was full by the end of one day.

Michael was thankful for his rain gear. Lest you think I'm exaggerating about the crappy weather, two other bloggers felt the need to mention it too (Blog 1, Blog 2). It's rained a lot!

I waited for a dry moment and hit the island's only book store, Key West Island Books. While they did not carry A Sail of Two Idiots, I'm hoping to change that. They did have a lot of books by local authors about Key West though and I bought one about the doomed railway.

Friday we decided to check out Louie's Backyard.  I had seen it on a commercial on a Key West tv show (there are 2 channels dedicated to stuff to do here - Key TV (24)and W05CJ (5) - and being right on the water was right up our alley, so off we went. It did not disappoint. Well, it sort of did because were hoping to try their truffle-seasoned French fries but it turns out they were only available for lunch. We will be back! You sure couldn't beat the view though. And it was cool. Awesomely cool! Heat relief - priceless. It is on a tiny little beach, with that stupid seaweed, which is a bit odorous, but not overly so. Very nice.

They've got an upstairs, with more formal dining too. There wasn't a single vegetarian thing on the menu, so other than the fries, I doubt we'll be eating here, but it's a beautiful place for drinks.

Some of you might be familiar with Texts from Hillary.

They were the first thing that popped into my head when I returned to the table with our drinks.

Tomorrow is Free for Locals day and that means these places are all free for the visiting/riding:
Let's see how much we can fit in, shall we?

What do you think of the official blog logo? I give a big thanks to my mom for sharing her hard work and talent.

    1. Thanks Robin. We look forward to you visiting and showing us the island from your point of view. Unlike other places (like St. Kitts), most of what was here when you were a kid is probably still here!
